what to expect in a session

Please begin by arriving a few minutes early to allow time to settle. Upon arrival, new clients can familiarize themselves with the environment, such as our tea station, restrooms, and lending library. Returning clients can simply relax in our comfortable waiting area, allowing a moment to unwind from travel and your daily life.

When you are brought into the treatment room, you may undress to your comfort level and make yourself comfortable beneath the linens. (Psst…your comfort level is unique to yourself! Some people undress fully, and some prefer to leave a few garments on.) Professional draping will be used during the entire session to ensure your comfort and peace of mind.

We will go over your intake form together, and discuss a potential treatment plan. I encourage you to voice any thoughts or concerns at any point during the session. Remember, massage is a collaborative process between the therapist and the client! Communication allows us to help each other tailor the perfect session for you.

During our session, I will use a variety of techniques to help your body meet its goal. These techniques may include passive and active stretching, Thai massage-style movements, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, muscle stripping, hot towels and/or stones, joint decompression, cupping, jostling, tapotement, Swedish strokes, and swaying movements. Anything used during your session, including cups and essential oils, is included in the cost of your session.

When your session has reached its end, I will step out of the room to give you time to return to the world and re-dress. We will discuss what was helpful during your session, and what steps to take to continue working towards your goal. I will recommend and demonstrate a few stretches and/or simple exercises to do in the time between your next session to incorporate into your daily life. This will help your body on its path to muscle relief and balance.

A cup of warm, freshly steeped herbal tea will always be provided to nourish your body and your spirit. It is encouraged to allow 10-15 minutes to rest quietly in our waiting area before returning to the day’s tasks.
